
Christian is an exercise physiologist, a Professor in the Department of Kinesiol-ogy at the University of San Francisco, an affiliate researcher in Neurology at UCSF Medical Center, and the owner of Thompson Fitness Solutions. Christian has published scientific articles on exercise programming for older adults in peer-reviewed journals such as Translational Journal of the ACSM, Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, Journal of Aging and Physical Activity, and npj Aging.
Christian has been delivering balance training and fall risk reduction exercise programs to thousands of older San Franciscans since 2007 in the city-wide Always Active program. Chris’ professional service in-cludes sitting on the advisory board of Vivo Fitness, the Medical Fitness Educa-tion Foundation and the Functional Aging Institute. He has served as a section editor for the ACSM Health Fitness Journal and ACSM’s Translational Journal. He has also been a past Chair of ACSM’s Interest Group on Aging and a previ-ous member of ACSM’s Health & Fitness Summit Planning Committee.
Christian is a featured author of continuing education on older adult fitness pro-gramming hosted by the National Academy of Sports Medicine and has devel-oped educational content for the Functional Aging Institute, IDEA and TRX Training. He has written for numerous lay and industry publications including the ACSM Health Fitness Journal, PFP Magazine, IDEA Fitness Journal, San Francisco Chronicle, Cleveland Clinic Health Newsletter, Arthritis Advisor, and GOLF Magazine.
