CEO
International Council on Active Aging

Colin Milner is the CEO of the International Council on Active Aging, a global organization dedicated to changing the way we age. Since 2001, he has been a leading voice in reframing aging from a model of decline to one focused on potential, engagement, and quality of life.

An award-winning writer, Milner has authored more than 300 articles and has been published in journals such as Global Policy, The Annual Review of Gerontology and Geriatrics, and the International Journal of Environmental Health Research. He also contributed a chapter to the World Economic Forum book Global Population Aging: Peril or Promise?

Milner’s work has influenced thousands of business and government leaders, industry professionals, and older adults worldwide. His insights have led a wide range of organizations to seek his counsel—including the European Commission; Canada’s Minister of Seniors; the Canadian Senate Special Committee on Aging; the Informal Meeting of the European Union Ministers of Sport; the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; NHS Scotland; and the Abu Dhabi Department of Community Development—on strategies to advance healthy aging at a societal level.

He also collaborates with global leaders such as the World Economic Forum, the World Health Organization (WHO), Apple, Amazon, New Balance, and academic institutions including Yale, the University of Ottawa, and Stanford, where he serves on the Scientific Advisory Council of the Sports Equity Lab.

Through research, education, and thought leadership, Milner helps embed aging well into systems, environments, and everyday life—shifting aging from something to manage to something to optimize.
