Jennifer L. Smith, PhD, is Assistant Vice President and Director of Mather Institute. She holds a doctorate degree in Social Psychology from Loyola University Chicago. Dr. Smith conducts research on ways to enhance psychological well-being and resilience among older adults. Her recent and ongoing research projects include a survey of attitudes and interests of Generation X, an evaluation of a resident wellness coaching program, and a 5-year longitudinal study of the health and wellness of Life Plan Community residents. She has published over 20 journal articles and book chapters on topics such as strategies for savoring positive experiences, resilience, and perceptions of aging.
